Not everyone will bleed. I didn't. The bleeding is caused by the hymen, a very thin membrane, being broken. It can be broken LOTS of ways - if you're very active, if you've been in an accident, if you've used tampons, etc. It doesn't mean you didn't lose your virginity, it just means that your hymen was no longer intact at that time. Not a bad thing.

i wondered the same thing... it caneb broken other ways, most commonly by tampons, but i also found out from my dr that there are a few females that are born w/out the hymen, could be that too.

Because your hymen had already been broken... via tampon usage or exercise... really there can be a lot of reason why your hymen is broken.
