I just installed a detachable windshield on my '07 softail. I followed the directions very closely and everything looks fine, but I get a metal to metal rattle when going over bumps. Is this normal for a detachable windhield or did I screw up the install somehow?

What brand and model number/name is the windshield.
Someone might have had the same problem and know the repair procedure.

Windshields aren't hard to install. If you say you followed the instructions then you probably did it right. If you can pinpoint where the rattle is coming from, try putting a rubber washer between the two pieces. That should fix it. Or maybe something got loose. Try using Loctite on the bolts so they don't back out. Vibration is a bike's worst enemy. Loctite EVERYTHING!

believe it or not, but some of those parts put on one way are fine, but flipped over aren't. I put on the detachable sissy bar attachment hardware, and whenever I tried to put the sissy bar on it didn't fit, but, when I took it to the dealership, they flipped the pin with the rubber washer on it, and it works perfectly now.
