It will initially decrease and then will fluctuate as the environment gains or loses moisture and the salt/solution equilibriates.

To prevent this it should be stored in a dry and controlled place.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think that after some time, it would evaporate, and there's no known way to stop it from evaporating
