I had a gas can that leaked in the back of my car. The smell is awful and potent. How can I clean the gas and get rid of the smell? Anything would be helpful. FYI the gas is dryed into the interior of the car already.

This is going to sound weird but it worked for me: Buy a gallon of white vinegar and pour it into several large grocery store aluminum foil pans. It's important that the pans be wide and long. Place one in each foot well and several in the trunk. Of course you'll need to remove the pans of vinegar while driving but leave them in the car for a week or 10 days while it's standing still. It helps to open all windows and trunk lid when the car is at your home or other safe place.

As for the red gas stains go to NAPA auto parts store and pick up a can of CRC Brakeleen Brake parts cleaner. It's main purpose is lifting grease and brake dust but I honestly just tried this and it removed a couple of grease spots on my floor carpets in my own car. Now, gasoline is petroleum the same stuff grease and oil is made of a I'm sure this plan will work. Spray on a terry cloth towel and rub the daylights out of the spill stain. The beauty of brake clean is it evaporates in a flash with no odor after 15 minutes.

sorry to hear that. there r two things u can do. one go to the part store and get a spray can of carpet cleaner and spray it on ,and vacuum it up,or take it to a shop that cleans carpets, but if feel u r better off doing it yourself, and after it dry dump some perfume on it ,but not until clean.........ted
