My fiance' and I have been trying for a baby for just over a week now but I think I might already be pregnant. My question is...how do you feel initially. I've been having headaches, I'm tired, and I've been having strange pains in my tummy. The pains aren't quite like cramps but are still uncomfortable. I've heard that could be because when you first get pregnant your uterous contracts in preparation for a growing baby. I'm now 5 days late. I did take a pregnancy test on Sun. but it was negative. After talking to a friend I found out that the test could be wrong right now. When she had her baby she had two test read negative before the she finally got a positive.
So based on this information...what do you think the chances are that I am pregnant now?

Thank you all.

It all depends on whether or not you had ovulated. Your friend is right, the test sometimes takes a while to read positive. When you become pregnant you produce a hormone called HCG. The first few days it produces rather slowly then it picks upin a week or so,sometimes a test can't read the HCG because the levels were still too low to register. On Friday or Saturday take another test but this time, even if the box says you don't have to,use morning urine. Morning urine has been held in your bladder all night long and any and all HCG produced ends up in the bladder in a concentrated form therefore a pregnancy test may catch it easier because there is more of the hormone and it is more concentrated in the morning. Most tests tell you you can use anytime urine these days, but when you have taken a test already and it read negative, play it safe and use your most concentrated urine so you may find out for sure this time. Hope you get the result you are looking for. Good Luck!!

I started feeling symptoms around 5 weeks so about where you are now. I got a positive 2 days after my missed period though. If your body is taking longer to produce the hormone HCG it will also probably take longer to experience symptoms (as studies show the 2 are related) Try taking another test in a couple days because HCG should double every 48 hrs or so in the very beginning. Good Luck!

You can be. I have been having the same symptoms and I am going for a blood test today since the HPT never worked for me and I was always pregnant. If I am, this will be baby #3. I have been tired and some back pain and I had sharp pains in my tummy the other day and my last period was May 7th...I can't wait to find out for sure! I am so freaking anxious!

I think your chances are really good, esp. if you still have not gotten your period. Headaches and fatiques are common in early pregnancy. You might also notice you have to pee more often and have some stomach troubles (cramps, nausea, cravings and aversions, gas, heartburn, etc.).

It's true that sometimes a test taken too early can register negative.

For many women the test works at the time they are expecting their period. For other women they have to wait another week or two for the HcG levels to register high enough in the urine.

Best of luck - how exciting!

Your best bet is to wait and take another test in a couple days. Im sure stress from trying to have a baby has caused you to be late on your period. I dont know of anyone who had gotten a false pregnancy test after their missed period, so im not a person to believe that. Now you can get a false test if you test too early, i know that from my experience. Best of luck to you

Now a days the tests are pretty accurate, although they could be wrong. The best way is to schedule an appointment with your Gyno and have them run a blood test. Good Luck!!

i think you are very lucky if you got prego that fast!!! It could happen i guess if the week you had sex you were ovulating, but right now it would be very hard for a test to say pos... and it will prolly take about a month actually, because usually you dont find out until you are around 4-6 weeks....hope this helps!!

Go to the doctor for a blood work. It's more accurate. It could be that your HCG level is too low and it wasn't able to give you an accurate reading.
