I am planning on making a journal out of Word documents or something, and I want to password-protect the folder in case my bro gets a hold of my computer, and I don't want him to read all my journals. Is it possible to password-protect a folder?
I was going to make a blog, but I realized that everyone on the web can read it if they can find it. Blogging a journal is not an option.

If your file system is NTFS you can password protect your files/folders.
Convert Fat32 to NTFS but not the other way.( visa versa ?)
Procedure I will update later.

Password Protect Folders in XP

Do you share a computer with other users and want

some extra security on your folders? There are two

ways to password protect a folder built into Windows

XP (for other Windows flavors, there are some

freeware/shareware programs out there).

#1 If you have a log in password for your account,

this can be used to protect folders from other users.

Your hard drive must be formatted using NTFS (which

it probably is unless you're dual booting with another

operating system). Here's what to do...

Right-click the folder that you want to make private

and choose "Properties" (or Alt+Double-click). Go to

the "Sharing" tab and check the "Make this folder

private" box. ETC

You can however, password protect the individual Word documents. With the document open, click on tools, options, then the security tab. You'll see the spot there for creating the password.
