SDRAM definition: short for Synchronous DRAM. A type of DRAM in which all input and output information is synchronized to a master clock signal.

SDRAM purpose: a device in which computer/cpu instructions are stored. The more RAM you have, the more instructions that can be stored and awaiting to get process.

Pentium 4 processor at 2.66 GHz means a Central Processing Unit (CPU) that has a frequency of 2.7 billion cycles per second. Relatively fast.

Meaning ...
- 512 MB SDRAM is the MEMORY of the computer
- Pentium 4 is just a brand name of the computer processor
- 2.66 GHz is the SPEED of the computer processor

Purpose ...
- Memory of a computer determines how many things you can do simultaneously without slowing dowing the computer. If you have low memory and you try to work on a document, chat on messenger and listen to music all at the same time, all of those programs might become SLOW. If you have more memory, you can do all those things at the same time and not feel a slowdown.
- The Pentium 4 brand name tells you a RANGE of processor speeds. Pentium 4 processors can range anywhere from 2.0 GHz to 4.0 GHz (this range is just an exmple, not the real range). Basically if you know the actual processor speed in GHz, then you don't need to worry about the fact that its a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon or whatever brand. Btw, INTEL (the makers of Pentium) usually charges more than AMD (the makers of Athlon) even though Athlons have proven over and over to be better performers.
- Processor speed determines how FAST your computer does something. For example, if you can't find a song that you had saved on your computer, and you go to the SEARCH feature and look for your song, a faster processor will get you the results faster. Another example would be the amount of time it takes for a program to start up when you first try to open it.

PS. If those are the specs of a computer you are about to purchase, I would try to increase the memory a little bit (even at the cost of reducing speed). Most casual users get blown away by the Pentium 4 but you will never really NEED all that speed as much as you will need the extra memory.

well the siplest way to say this in terms of understanding is that 512 Mb is ur work space expample a table the bigger the table the more books or data u can put on it. and theP4 processor is a 7 generation which means it pretty fast and the 2.6 GHz mean the clock speed it is running at meanin the faster it is running the better for you.

the RAM is like the workbench when you take stuff off you hard drive to look at it it is being held in the ram. the more ram the better. the processor is like the brain of the computer it does the thinking . the faster the better.

You might want to search "computer terminology" to find out the meaning of those items.
