I think that the answer lies in how people go through their development and socialisation in society.
Just what those conditions are is what I would like to know?
I further take the view that we do not really understand what we are doing as parents. It is all to easy to imagine that such people are "Evil" and do not even try to find out what causes some people to turn out like that.
What do you think?

I am not interested in finding out what causes them to turn out like that . Why should we try and understand them? so we can put an arm around them and say 'there there, it's not your fault'?

An adult knows it is wrong regardless of past experience such as being a victim themselves, or all that lack of cuddles from mummy crap. That makes them just plain sick evil ba5tards who should have their bollox removed with a rusty knife.

Typically, studies have shown that the largest number of pedophiles have been abused themselves as small children. They grew up abused, and haven't learned themselves how to break the cycle of abuse. Apart from that, they have not received counseling or therapy to deal with the frustrations and anger that they feel as a result of such harsh and brutal treatment, so they tend to take it on those that are much smaller than themselves.

Another thought is that the abused child doesn't know which came first: the abuse, or the feelings of anger and hysteria that accompanied it. Therefore, in any type of stressful situation, they will begin to act out the types of behavior that have been done to them. (They will grab themselves, grab other children, other acts of sexual aggression.)

Development and socialization may have some to do with it -- after all, we are all a product of our environment. I do not believe for a minute that it is a coincidence that the rates of rape, sexual battery and homicides have gone up drastically, at the same time the movies, TV, and video games have shown children and teens that it is "cool" to mistreat each other.

Parents have a lot of pressure, stress and frustration, it's true, but I'm not sure they have that much more than at any other time in society. I grew up the youngest of 12 kids, and we worked very hard with very little money. We had tons of stress, but we were not abused by society's standards. By standards NOW, we might have been considered abused!!

But we respected our parents, and any other adult that spoke to us. Times have certainly changed, and not necessarily for the better.

I don,t steal because I was stolen,I don,t bully because I was bullied,I don't lie because I was told lies...
The killer does he kills because he was killed? The raper because he was rapt?
As Human being we have the CHOICE every time to do what WE want.
There are different kind of humans ;humans with more or less developed empathy .(call that ethic, moral if you like).
You have to be awear that there are killers who kill physically and killers who kill psychically. When you get close to paedophiles you are astonished how plastic their mind are .They see how you see the world and manipulate you.How many psychiatrist did let them out thinking their are harmless even though it is known they are incurable.
Paedophiles think that one day they will be accepted in society like homosexuals! And saying that they are sick is giving Them the protection of the society and put them as a victim,They are not victim es.They are difficult to understand because they are very far of us in functioning .They take their life energy from the methodical manipulation and destruction of other human beings the children is just the tip of the iceberg .They are like black hols sucks everything coming close.Bad people does exist .

I think there is some connection in their brain that is not functioning correctly. There have been many studies on this subject in particular. The link below relates it to seratonin levels, also with being abused as an infant/ child theirselves.
Also, the ease of getting their hands on pornography is fueling their fire, so to speak.

Antisocial personality Disorder affects a lot of pedophilia monsters. read first link below for info on this:

You seem to think society and parenting are a factor in this, excuse me if i'm wrong! I think there is definately a short circuit in some people, from being born. If your parents catch you doing something strange at a young age and fail to adress and suitably punish the behaviour, then surely the child turns to an adult that thinks the bahaviour is suitable. Therfor i guess partly the parnets are to be blamed for not recognising strange behavior in kids before it's to late.

Clearly it has to do with the up bringing first and foremost, and or factor in if they were absued as a child as well.

Some people have never been taught that it is wrong? As disgusting as that is... Or they have done it to someone they know and figure its okay b/c nothing was done about it the frist time.

I also think it could have to do with your genetic DNA as well or something to do with trigger points in their brain.

I am a pedophile. there I have said it. Bring on your bashing. I however am not a child molester, I have never touched a child, have never attacked a child nor have I ever tried to coerce a child into sex. The difference that the world today fails to differentiate is that child molesters have no self control, if you look at most cm's (child molester abbr) they are usually people who have problem controlling other aspects of their lives. Now, do I think about sex with young girls, yes, is that so wrong, i don't know. What i do know is that all men have at one time or another looked at a picture of a sexy woman who appears young and thought to themselves " if I could just spend some time with that tight little body" does this make all men pedophiles, no, it makes them normal. There is a natural drive in males to be attracted to a younger female, biologically speaking younger means a better chance for reproduction. Does this extend to the guys that go after toddlers and prepubecent girls, I don't know, my particular fetish is towards young pubescent girls. Now what I am trying to say is that some types of pedophilia is natural, yes there are different types. Society has lumped all people who crave a tight young body to be evil, pedophiles are not evil, cm's are evil because they have released their self control and in most cases, forced someone else to do as they wish. Would I molest a child, no, absolutly not, but if a young girl were to come to me and ask me to have sex with her, I cannot say that my self control would win out. Let me say this though a girl coming and asking for sex is fully aware of what it entails and should have the right to decide for herself whether or not she wishes to, and if she is having sexual urges then she should also have that right. Now to the heart of the subject, what made me this way, I was not abused as a child, I did not have an overbearing mother, my mother and I are still actually very close so all the theories around mental problems are wrong in my case. To tell the truth I have always been this way and I am not the only one in my family that is this way, I have a cousin (female) who is like me in this way, how do I know, well as children we used to take part in sexual activity, of our own accord, and with no outside meddeling. We were not coaxed into it, neither of us were sexually abused, neither of us have any mental problems, we were just kids enjoying sexual activity and we did till we were teens. So I would have to say that pedophilia is an innate process, it could be because of some sort of misfire in the neurons of the brain, it could be from too much sex hormone in the system but it is innate and can't be helped, I know I have tried with all kinds of drugs and therapy to make myself not be like this, (I thought there was something wrong with me but there wasn't ) My shrink, after taking a lot of my money, finally said that he could not find anything that made me be a pedophile and that he could only help me with controlling it, that he did, my self control is at a point that I will never have to worry about forcing myself on any child. So you can now call me all kinds of names and tell me I'm going to hell, and try to procecute, and all the other things that modern society has done to people like me, but be minded that once you begin to attack people for something they cannot help it will not be long before someone is finding fault with you, and attacking you for it.

One thing I've recognized as a mental health therapist is most pedophiles were also victims themselves. Another is this is something that is almost impossible to cure.

Difficulty relating to other people as an adult. Infantilism. Stunted emotional growth. Supression of "normal" social channels.

One huge problem:

What are you going to do with all those parents that did not model this to their sons/daughters when they were young?

Seems manipulative to me to assume and it doesn't touch lightly on the issue of blame-shifting either.

There is no excuse for it.
