I have been told by many that my work is very beautiful and that I should go into business for myself. I love to design yards and I feel I am very good at it. I have never had my own business before so I really don't even know where to start. Do I need a licence for this? When and If I did start do I pay for all the lawn design and then charge them for it afterwards? How much does ones usually charge for something like this? I know it cost me a pretty penny to do my own yard.LOL Plus all the time I had into it. I built my own ponds, bridges, flower pots, Large and small driftwood decor, painted what ever needed to be painted, had several decor water pumps running, Large stumps of wood for some of the water decor pumps to sit on. Well, do you you want to design yards, or have a landscaping business?? A landscaping business needs quite a few pieces of machinery, to mow, take down old trees, trucks, etc.
Maybe you could call some landscaping companies, and see if they have a "design" person, that would meet with the homeowners, and go over what needs to be planted where, etc. I do not know if they have a person, or if they are just designers in general. I am not in landscaping, just offering some ideas.
Hope that helped, and good luck.

I know of a young man, now 40+ years, who worked his way through college doing lawn mowing, cleanup and landscaping, Eventually he had to hire a couple of friends to help. Today he owns his own, very profitable lawn care/landscaping company and employs quite a number of people (like Mitt Romney) who are also earning a nice salary. He even has to turn jobs down or refer them to another landscaper because he has more business than he can handle. He's a proud family man with a beautiful home today. You are a treasure, too. Follow your heart and do what you love to do, but make sure you know how to run a business. College wouldn't hurt. Good luck to you and your brother! And Go, Girl, Go!

We would suggest that you try working for a landscaper to see what the business is like. Working for clients isn't the same as working for yourself. It is also hot, hard and heavy work.

You should also learn to spell. Nothing is more unprofessional than misspelled words.
