No.The religious right continues to have wayyyyyyyyyy too much infliuence on the political process. Part of the reason this country is so divided is because the religious leaders try to put down anyone who complains about Bush.the founders of this country would be rolling in their graves if they could see what has happened. I think limitations should be placed on the amount of money religious organizations can donate. At least that would b a start. And religious leaders should be banned from holding any kind of position of influence in the government, whether it be official or not.

No. i am not happy with it. If we must have separation, then it should be total separation. The way it is now. The state has no rights, but the church can bend the rules and do whatever it pleases.

Yes and no. The "yes" answer comes primarily from the fact that we still have *some* separation of church and state (religion and politics basically), and that *some* beats the hell out of *none* seven days out of seven. We in the United States don't have to worry so much about women getting *stoned to death by a mob* over every little thing the way people in Wahabbi nations do. And I am thankful every day that I *don't* live in a Dictatorship of the Flock like that here.
But....the "no" answer comes from the fact that we just don't have *enough* separation of religion from politics. When medical research on stem cells gets killed time and again by political "elites" over religious issues, we don't have enough separation (sorry folks, a fertilized egg is not a full-blown human being, it is a *single cell* that can't possibly survive outside of a maternal womb, deal with it damn you). When we can't revert the Pledge of Allegiance to its *original state* and get the McCarthy-era addition of "under God" out of it, there's not enough separation.
When evangelical psychos run the show time and again at *military academies* like West Point, to the point of attacks on Jewish students becoming a *court case* multiple times, we don't have enough separation.
When folks are shot at, bombed, and otherwise murdered at abortion clinics and people think they can *get away* with it, there's not enough separation.
To put things very simply....we are NOT a strict Christian nation, and the day that happens is the day freedom dies. The founding fathers knew this....they weren't too far removed from the generations of Pilgrims who came to Plymouth Rock, risking *near certain death* across the vast ocean back in the day, to *FLEE* the Official Church of England and its persecution of people who didn't "believe as they did".
And yes, I know, the separation of religion from politics *is* a weakness to a point these days in dealing with the fanatics out there who would just as soon *blow up* civilization as be a part of it. I get this.
But the answer is to not lose it and *stoop* to their level.
The answer is *more* separation of church from state. The answer is to let REASON lead and faith FOLLOW the laws and dictates of reality. If we trust ourselves enough to *solve our own problems* and to actually *committ* to working on them versus a policy of *deliberate abandonment* (a.k.a. "let gawd sort 'em out"), we aren't actually sinning.
We are using the good sense we've got, and we are holding up *our* part of the bargain and doing the right thing.
Why people can't see this I have *no idea*. Thinking is not a bad thing. -_- A good mind is NOT a "terrible thing".
Just saying....not that anyone will listen. Have a good one, whatever that means for you.

You mean religion and state, i'm Jewish.
Anyway, I am happy with that arrangement. It was a very smart thing to do. Except I hate how religion creeps its way into to government. Like Bush won't allow Gay Marriage because his religion doesn't. I thought religion and state were seperate!!!

NO IT SHOULD NOT BE CHANGED! Gods forbid! The two have nothing to do with one another. Ever heard of freedom of religion? Combining the two would make life difficult for anyone not in the majority.
