No good deed goes unpunished. (Ok so thats not the most optimistic statement but its sometiems true) The real reward for trying to do good for others is not always the result but simply knowing that you tried.

hah asian parents. i feel the same way... i know what you're going through. i'm in high school now and this term i'm possibly getting 2 Bs.. imagine the torture i'm going through too. my parents are never satisfied with what i can put up. (getting watched all day sounds like what my mom would do to me...) I'm very borderline in history and AP physics.. ugh.. in 8th grade i got straight mid As without trying as it was just 8th grade. they shouldn't care too much about 8th grade. talk to them.. idk if it will work though, never works with my parents. can't wait for college.

don't let those people affect my life. I consider them "toxic" and life is hard enough as it is, I don't need to add to the difficulty of it.

yeah and then i tell my self ... those who mind dont matter and those who matter dont mind
then i give myself a good pep talk and realize they are just a$$holes and have their opinions and i have mine .. plus its my life not theirs
