Think about it, with modern technology and conveinences voting for the elections over the internet will be great. i also think A LOT more people will vote because they don't have to leave the house to do it (especially the younger people), elderly don't have to leave the house to, and people don't have to rush home from work.

The only thing that would be difficult is of course checking to see who is tampering with the online poll voting.

What do you think? Should voting ever make its way to online?

Look, the state of Georiga just recently passed an amendment stating that in order to vote you must have a valid ID. Minority speical interest groups raised hell saying the poor could not afford an ID (which is only 8 bucks) and even if they could they can't get to the places to get the ID (which is a $1.25 on marta, and if you're that poor the city will give you a bus pass). So, to make everyone happy the state set a program were some one will come to your place of residence take your photo and mail you an ID card, for free. This is just to get an ID card, you think those poor can afford the internet, the tax payers will have to shell out a load of cash to provide every family in the country with computer and internet access in order to make it fair. For this reason alone, never mind the hacking, it will never happen.

Not going to happen.

First it is open to too much manipulation. That's the problem with touch screen computerized systems. Your vote is as good as the software is honest.

Second, It would open the door to too many unknowns voting. The current system makes voting more predictable with the same people turning out. They always vote for the mainstream candidate. If people were to vote from the comfort of their homes you would start to see real candidates get elected instead of the clones.

Ain't gonna happen for quite a while.

No, our government couldn't manage to make such a system secure as yet. It would take a decade or so for our government to come up with something like that, and make it secure enough to not be a utter catastrophe.

I do not see the benefit of getting more people to vote simply by making it easier for them to vote. If they do not have the time to go to a polling place to elect the leader of the entire earth, who has the power to send them, their sons, and their daughters to die in war, and effect virtually every aspect of this nation....then they should not be voting anyways. We do not need such casting votes for anyone.

I believe it is a great idea. There would be no lines and less people leaving work to vote.

As for tampering, there is the same amount of risk as there is now. Counters can throw out ballets, or make false ballets. With all the advances in internet security, this should happen.

Ever? Maybe. However, it's not ready in the near future.

The simple problem is security. And it's not so much "hackers" as the problem of not knowing who is on the other end. Passwords can be learned, as can any other identifying information.

While you could generate a fake ID to vote in someone's place in a physical polling place, that's a fantastic investment of resources to cast one vote. Online, however, there's a lot of potential for multiple identity thefts.

No. There might be problems with hackers. Elderly people who can't leave the house don't need to vote over the internet. They can do absentee voting through the mail.

Yes, it would be convenient. I'd love to vote from home, but the trouble is the same convenience I'd enjoy would make it possible for corrupt political machines to stuff the ballot boxes even more than they're doing now. Bad idea!

i presumed-approximately this as nicely. i think of it would be an superb concept, even with the undeniable fact that there are protection subject concerns that must be labored out. How might a man or woman be stored from balloting greater effective than as quickly as? i assume with a registered Social protection huge form. this could be recorded interior the equipment whilst a man or woman voted. additionally they might could desire to tie in to the Social protection documents base to be sure a great determination grew to become into valid or no longer canceled by way of a man or woman passing away. There might could desire to be on heck of a protection equipment to guard the area from hackers, and one heck of a server to deal with the flood of persons on the area at one time. even though it would income people who've schedules that save them from attending to the poles actual, or invalids that are at dwelling house. There might additionally could desire to be the thank you to be sure the guy's SS# grew to become into that of a registered voter. yet i like the belief I commute lots, so i ought to ought to log in from my lap precise and vote.
