A question was asked a couple of days ago about the worth of a stay-at-home mom...take a look at ALL of the answers and then at the answer that was chosen as the best.
I just found it annoying (my apologies to the asker...)

It was annoying! I think the question was offensive and completely disagree. I'm a working mom and I have to give a huge amount of credit to those stay at home moms. Working moms at least get a break from the kids, and if your a mom you know YOU NEED a break from the children. It's completely irrational and ignorant to put a price on mother's period! Stay at home moms and working moms, my most sincere respect and apologies for that question! MOMS ROCK!

Ya i remember seeing one of the answers saying that mom's would make 100,000 annually if they got paid. well my response is BullSh*t! in today's world u have to do it all! there r no breaks, 6 hours of sleep a day! u have to be a good mom and have a great career. It's sad but true. I feel mom's work cannot be judge by the same scale as a job. Just because mom's work doesnt amount to money doesnt mean its worthless. Mom's work should be measured on a different scale.

but today's world u need money and love. not just one or other. How can you be a stay at home mom only? during pregnancy and nursing periods i can understand.... but what if the guy leaves u? I dont want to depend on a guy ever! no matter how much i believe in our love. I want to depend only on me.

You can't say working husbands has it harder or working moms has it easier! its subjective! i feel the best relationship is an equal partnership. It's not fair that one person only works and one only does housework. Everybody should pitch in if they have time! As always kids are the first priority... so in that sense moms' traditional work is technically is more valuable. so my husband will be helping me with the kids! and i will help with the paycheck!

Yea, that was definately a bad choice for best answer. I sure wouldn't have chosen it!!!

I'm a stay at home mom, and have been since they were born. I won't be working till they are all in school, at least. I HAVE to be here for my babies!
I had a job for 5 months, and every thing went wrong with my kids! One broke his leg, one got attacked by yellow jackets, one got in an accident, and the list goes on and on... I refuse to give up the most important job of my life - being a MOM. My kids need me, more than anything in the world.

It erks me severely to hear working moms (or their supporters) put down stay at home moms because they make no money. My sis (yes, my own flesh and blood!) claims I'm worthless because I have a loving husband to take care of me and our kids. I am here, no matter good or bad, for my kids. I get to enjoy everything with my kids. That's something that a working (out of the home) mom can't claim. To me, watching my kids grow up is precious, and is something nothing or no one can take away from me.

;o)

I don't understand the animosity that working moms feel for stay at home moms. I'm a mom to 4 kids under 10. Do they realize how much it would cost me to pay a babysitter to watch them while I worked all day? It would cost every penny I earned. Why on earth would I leave my kids all day only to pay someone else to raise them for me in a daycare setting? That is insanity! Plus I would worry so much about them I could not function at a job. I LOVE being at home with my kids, even though they drive my bonkers most of the time! LOL

I can see why you are annoyed at the choice for best answer.
I give credit to all Moms, whether they choose to leave the house to work or to be a stay at home Mom. I have done both in my lifetime. I chose to stay at home with my kids until they reached school age, But we had to make a lot of sacrifices because of it. I didn't want someone else raising my kids and missing out on them growing up.

Well it's obvious that she didn't place such a high value on stay at home moms as she feels that she's working and is worth more. It's also obvious that she was looking for somebody to agree with her and that she wasn't interested in genuine answers. But that's how some people are so don't take offense to it.

I can see why you are annoyed! But unfortunately that is the world we live in! I personally think a mom being able to stay home with her kids is something you can not put a value on!!

I was a stay at home mom,I have no regrets.Yes,you do have to sacrifice and go without at times. But as long as you have the necessities, that's all that matters. The love, affection and caring you're able to give your children is way more important than luxuries.Besides, the newest latest toy can't compare to watching them take those first steps, etc. It's awesome!
