The gnomes can hold off the dragons by appeasing them with gems and "Feeding Sacrifices" as they await the fullfilment of their prophecy about the "Savior Gnome" who will one day come and tame the dragons.

I most deffinitely think that they will. When you think about the genetic configuration of both complicated species, then gnome has very many deficiencies that the dragons genes can comepletely wipe out. This was obviously a rather stupid question, because if you had looked into those very simple facts, you would know the answer. =)

No. I think gnomes are far too small to make any sort of a decent mouthful. They may form a symbiotic relationship, with the gnomes feeding off the remains of the dragon's meals. Free BBQ!

An asteroid will hit the earth first and wipe out all creatures that fly first. We'll have to see if the Gnomes can make it through that first. I know I'll still be here.

No, because the gnomes are good at mining gems and stuff, so they can appease the dragons. Plus the gnomes can live underground in little tunnels where the dragons can't get them.
