When your platy is about to have her fry she might start to hide or stay on the bottom of your tank. You can either get another tank to put your adult fish in or just provide plenty of plants for the fry to hide in, breeding grass is great for your fry to hide in for the first couple of weeks. You can buy this at your local pet store. You could also buy a temporary tank divider and remove it once your fry are large enough! Good luck!

Platys are livebearers, so they're going to give birth to live young. I have had a platy fry survive in my own tank, but you have a better chance of keeping the fry if you raise them in a separate tank, preferably with an undergravel filter so the fry don't get sucked up into it. Be sure to separate the platys from the fry once they give birth. Platys will eat their young.
