'd' instead of 'the'. Any other examples? It makes them sound like illiterate idiots. Can they write properly but don't want to, or is this actually how educated they are these days? I'm only 25 but I never wrote like that.

Ha! Half the time I can't even read what they're attempting to write. I've heard of short-hand, but come on, there is a fine line.

I can only assume that they write the way they speak. It's very annoying to me. Can you imagine being their English teacher and reading a short story, or forget that, a paragraph in that kind of "speak"? Ha, I'd find a new job.

It is DISGUSTING.

Personally, I think parenting these days is right smack in the toilet. Let's face it - lots of people who are breeding really, really should not EVER have had kids.

America is way, way behind in test scoring in all of the disciplines - Math, Literature, Sciences - you name it.

I say jerk the phones out of their spoiled little hands and drop them off at the libary. For a few DAYS.

oh man i really hate when people write like that. its so hard to read and just really immature!
i sometimes write "cuz" just because its faster when writing ims or text messages, but thats like the only one i use.
but never in papers or anything. i hateee when i see people write "u" in a paper instead of "you" its soo annoying!
i hate "dat," "kewl" "wun" "tyme" and people who type LiKE THiS or LyKe DaT.
hahah

Writing is one thing, but some of the things I hear are just as bad (if not worse), such as, "I pacifically axed him not to do that."

Its the old "anti-establishment" routine. " You can't control me and tell me how to speak or write, I will just do as I please." Kids and some older people feel that way and this is their way of expressing their lack of conformance to rules.
