Airplanes pollute the air a lot. I think a lot more than cars. What do you think can be done about it? What are the technologies? I have no doubt that the threat of global warming is real.

You have to look at the bigger picture... How many airplanes are flying compared to cars that are driving? My company made 500 jets last year. How many cars did Toyota make?

If you really think global warmning is real, you are really misinformed. There is no link to pollution and global warming. Just a lot of far fetched ideas.

So as far as airplanes are concerned, they are absolutely needed in today's society.

Actually, planes are much more efficient and produce far less emissions (both in total and in parts per mile traveled) then cars. This is because there is much more money put into the airline industry for efficiency (jet fuel is expensive). Also, planes travel in straight lines, carry maximum or near maximum capacity, and have far less drag or other factors using up energy.
