when i have hair on my legs, they look fairly dark. after i shave (yes i do, im a dedicated cyclist), they look much lighter. why is this?

Hairs give a shade to the skin. Also, thin layer of epithelium is gone while shaving, so skin is sort of denuded and looks fairer.

Well, the only thing I can tell you it's tha the hair make it darker. This happened to me and everyone was laughing about my feets, so, I shave them and they even looked very white, like if I didn't had a sunburn in my feet... never.

The hair is darker, so, it makes where it is darker. Remember, there are a lot of hairs very united and that's why it make it look like that.

Because your hair is darker than your skin. Therefore, when your legs have hair, they are darker.
