I would call the nearest Johnson dealer they will tell you what it is but I am guessing it is a 2 stroke new Johnsons have a 4 for the fifth digit in the model# but would still call a dealer

The first 4 strokes outboards were made by Yamaha in the late 1990's - and OMC (evinrude / Johnson) did not start until after Yamaha - yours is definitely a 2 stroke engine

I agree with the idea of contacting a dealer, they will be the best source of info regarding your engine. They are generally marked somewhere on or near the fuel tank as to an oil to gas ratio if they are 2 stroke.

I would go with hondo's answer, 4 stroke=dipstick 2 stroke=oil in the tank

definitely 2 stroke. omc didn't make a 4 stroke 15 in '94.

Its definately a 2 stroke engine.U must add 2T oil with petrol (blend)and then pour into the tank,otherwise your piston/ rings will sieze.
Dont forget 2T.

If the engine has an oil check dipstick it is four stroke.
