i am 38 weeks pregnant?

and have not lost my mucus plug yet, or at least i don't think i have... When i use the bathroom, my underwear has clear discharge, with like a brownish outline... weird i know, is this my mucus plug? when should i lose it? is this normal?

That could be bits and pieces of it. I didn't lose mine until a few days ago and I'm 41 weeks. During the last few weeks of pregnancy you have a lot of extra discharge. Your mucous plug will look more like something that comes out of your nose rather than down there. Mine looked like yellowish stringy slimy "goo" with 2-3 streaks of pinkish-red blood throughout it. I don't believe that I lost the whole thing at once though, because I've heard that it's a lot that comes out and mine wasn't a huge mess. Although, I still am losing bits and pieces of it everyday. I didn't notice when I lost my mucus plug with either of my kids, and I had a brownish tinged discharge too which soon turned to pink which was what my doc called "bloody show". This happened right around the time is started early or "latent" labor. I would go to the doc to see if you are dilated. You might be starting labor. I wouldn't panic though it can go on for hours or even days, especially if it is your first child. Good luck!

I have had 4 pregnancies and never lost my mucus plug. You don't have to. But I did with my last one have the brownish stuff and the doctor told me that it was some bloody show. When he checked me. Good luck and hang in there.

Don't worry about it. I never noticed losing my mucus plug with either of my kids, but I must have lost it sometime.

I've had 3 children and never once lost my mucous plug. Just like other signs of labor (water breaking, etc) every pregnancy and every woman is different.
