I know in Chicago, they don't put ketchup on hot dogs. And the hot dog board says that people 18 and over shouldn't put ketchup on their dogs. What do you think?

Lots of people love ketchup on hot dogs. The sweet salty combo is classic, esp with mustard. I haven't heard this "rule" before. Ketchup has a bad reputation for being a kid food...lots of kids really abuse ketchup to hide food they don't like. The US govt listed it as a vegetable in school lunch, and that was indeed a joke. Ketchup has a lot of preservatives, salt, and sugar in it. It is highly processed from the tomato it once was. But it is what it is. And if you love it on a hot dog, you are surely not the only one. Ketchup is not a vegetable choice, and it isn't necessarily a food that is good for you. But there's no problem using ketchup when you eat mostly healthy food. It isn't my fav thing by far, I don't even keep it in the house but it sure does taste good when you stir in some salt and dip a french fry in it. It is also great cooked on the top of a meatloaf.

If you are over 12 you shouldn't put ketchup on a hot dog. In Chicago and New York you could be executed for that.

Ok when it comes to my hot dog there are only 2 options....
1.) Ketchup and mustard
2.) Chilli and cheese
My husband thinks I'm gross for putting ketchup on my hot dog, but oh well. 2 of my siblings put miracle whip on their hot dogs so i'm not so weird.

I'm 40 and I put both ketchup and mustard followed by relish on my hot dogs. I like the contrast in flavor of the sweet ketchup and the vinegary mustard and the contrast in temperatures of the warm hot dog with the cool relish

Yes, indeed. I love ketchup on my hot dog. I had heard that children like ketchup on hot dogs, while Adults enjoy mustard on theirs. I say, " so what ".... put ketchup on mine along with the mustard and all the other good things. Yummy.

ketchup is fine on hot dogs . I personally do not like it on hot dogs , but I don't like frys and love ketchup so it takes me a pack of ketchup for 2 frys , actually ketchup is good for you it is a tomatoe based product

And I guess that I am very wrong because, I am definatly over 18 and all I put on a hot dog is ketchup.
