"Duel In The Sun"

Harley Davison was back in Kansas!http://yosemite.bravehost.com/images/biker.JPG U.S.Marshal Matt Dillon had just read the telegram from Topeka......Matt: "Damn! I thought he'd been caught ages ago!"
Festus walked in....."What's that I hear, Matthew? Old Harley's on the loose agin'? I wonder why he just can't learn his dern lesson....Horse stealin' jest ain't right....Don't you see?"
(Festus fans will appreciate that comment!)
Matt threw the telegram down. "Well, I better start warning all the townsfolk and local farmers to keep a real close eye on their animals. I'll need you to put on your deputy badge, Festus. I need all the help I can get."
Festus: "You know, Matthew.......(4.) For A Few Dollars More we could hire us some of them boys out at the Broke Mountain Spa and Dude Ranch."
Matt:"Broke Mountain?! Are you crazy?!"
Festus :" Oh, yeah....Them boys ain't much interested in fighting. Sorry. Bad choice."
Matt:"Well, I'm not worried....Not yet. It seems that (1) All ('s)Quiet On The Western Front.......At least for today."
Just then Newley O'Brien came riding hard into town. Matt ran outside.
Matt:"Newley! What happened to you?!" He was bruised and bloodied.
Newley:"Marshal Dillon....I just ran into some bad *** cowpoke....Calls himself 'Harley.' He told me to give you a message......."(3.) All The Pretty Horses in Dodge will soon be his."
Matt:"Couple of you men....Get Newley up to see Doc."

Matt decided to ride out after the desperado himself.
Festus:"Wait for me , Matthew. Let me rustle up a few others to help us."
Matt:"No, Festus. I need you here. The others will just get in the way. ......Better that I go alone.Festus, I want you to go let Sunshine know where I am. Help her all you can, you hear me?" http://www.texasbobsworld.com/James%20Arness.gif
Festus: "You betcha, Matthew."
Festus tried to argue......Matt followed his original plan and rode off.

Along the way, Matt stopped at the different farms to see if any of their horses had been taken. In two hours time, he learned that among (5.) The Missing were horses from the Triple R, The Double BB and The Single T ranches !!!
He headed out to the badlands........alone........Just Matt and his gun........For......... a (2.) Duel In The Sun.

Early morning on the beach at Point Arena, California was SILENT except for the constant back and forth motion of the waves. You might say that it was ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. Two early morning volley ball players were having a DUEL IN THE SUN. My plan for the afternoon was to visit the race track and watch ALL THE PRETTY HORSES, take what was left of my limited funds down the drain. I could be a wealthy man FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE. Next week I would have to rejoin the working world, and replace THE MISSING .

All the pretty horses were missing a few more dollars. So even though all was quite on the western front they had a charity duel in the sun to raise some cash.

It was all quiet on the western front as they prepared for their duel in the sun, the seconds rode up on all the pretty horses, but the dueling pistols could only be counted among the missing. For a few dollars more, they procured new pistols, and marked off ten paces.

It was all quiet on the western front, because all the pretty horses were missing. Therefore, I had to go to the horse trader around the corner, He was expensive, but for a feew dollars more I found a good horse. I named it Duel in the Sun as he required some good horse trading.

For a few dollars more, I might have sold all the pretty horses. The bank robbers threw caution to the wind, thinking they would escape without their mounts.

The duel in the Sun was short-lived. The sheriff and his deputies over-powered the robbers in a matter of seconds. Muzzle flashes seemingly struck like lightning. One robber managed to survive the gunplay, running behind the bank.

The sheriff sent one of his deputies to look for the missing man. The lawman didn't know that I had released the missing man's horse from the restraint beside the saloon, for the missing man was my brother.

I brought my brother's horse to him behind the saloon. The town was all quiet on the western front as my brother escaped unscathed.

All the pretty horses sounds good - isn't the missing already a story title?

I can see the plot already for the first choice though, hmm, maybe I will have to start writing
