And if so, how long does it take for the hair to grow back? Thanks.

Not an easy answer. The end result of laser is said to be permanent. However, it will take more than one session. I have had a dozen laser treatments over they last 9 years and the hair doesn't grow back eventually. If you have stubborn, deep rooted hair like I do you, you will need multiple treatments to make it all go away. Your hair grows in 3 - 4 cycles. so the laser may not get everything at one time. I go for laser about once every 3 - 4 months. depending on how much money I can set aside for it. It is expensive at $500 per treatement for me. I can usually tell after about 2 months if I need to go back for more. While the laser does zap the hair follicule, the hair is still there and must grow out.

I agree with James K above as well. Please be careful where you go for this treatment. my very first experience was in 1998 when laser first became popular, and I got very badly burned and needed antibiotics. However, i now go to a certified dermatologist who knows me and my sensitive skin.

The treatment doesn't work as well on light hair, peach fuzz or grey hair. It is best for light skin and dark hair.

You will need 4-6 treatments to destroy 99% of the hairs in the area. I had 6 years ago and for all intensive purposes it did not grow back. New hairs can develop, however, during aging or hormonal changes like menopause.

The treatment was fantastic for me but make sure you go to someone knowledgeable with good equipment. Most people who get bad results are treated with subpar equipment or a technician who doesn's understand the settings.

The site http://www.HairRemovalForum.com has more information and it has a provider list based on providers who received positive survey results from previous customers.

Good luck.

If done properly it will kill the hair follicle so it doesn't grow back.
