I'm sure I will get lots of clever answers on this, but this is a REAL question. We have 4 toilets in our house. All are cleaned frequently with the same cleaning products. All have new seats installed. One of them stinks very strongly of pee. It's disgusting! It doesn't matter how much I clean it. It still stinks. No one is peeing on the floor by the way, in case that's your answer. I have also scrubbed the floor and the toilet rugs and still....it stinks. I hate to call a plumber and tell them my toilet stinks, but I don't know what to do. Could it be a bad seal? Anyone have any idea what could be causing this.

I agree that it is probably a broken wax seal. This is a DIY project and the seal is less than $10. I would advise buying new bolts also (although some seals include the bolts). I have included a link showing the process.

There are two bolts that hold the toilet to the floor probably under two little plastic covers on either side. Unbolt those and lift the toilet off after shutting off the water to it and disconnecting the water line. Puchase a new wax ring and follow the instructions to reinstall the toilet. The problem will be cured my wife had the same issue and I did this for her and she is now far easier to live with. You do not need a plumber. Good Luck

My first thought was to check the seal. This is more than likely your problem, and the plumber probably sees this type of problem a lot, so just ask yourself... "Which is more embarrassing...to tell the plumber that your toilet stinks or to smell the stink? Or worse yet... have your family and guests smell it..."

yes it could be a bad seal...

also take the lid off the top and make sure that nobody did an Upper Decker in your toilet...

(that is when they poop in your toilet's tank--and yes i know some disgusting people who play pranks like that...nobody that i would have over though)
