When given a viable option, I will buy American. I would like to add, thet I had an option to buy numerous types of vehicles recently and choose a Saturn Outlook over Toyota, Hond, Accura, ect.. and part of the reason I choose the Outlook is because it is an American product ( GM ) . PS, I love it, nice vehicle.

No. One of the great aspects of the American economy is the rule of supply and demand. Great products are in demand and inferior products are not. We now live in a global economy and must compete with world wide manufacturers. To "buy American" is an artificial feel good gesture that only discourages further productivity and quality advances in corporate america.

When commenting on the troubles that Ford is going through, the CEO of Toyota said, "There are no problems in the auto industry that a quality car can't fix."

I don't, in fact about the only thing I buy that has to be made in the US are tools. Almost everything else I buy has to be made in another country but not just any other country. My car is made in Germany, my scooter is made in Japan, my TV VCR and DVD are all made in other countries. Personally I don't like American made things because unions have made this country weak.

Agreed. Buy local produce as well, now that we are in summer and really support the small farmer and local industry.

No. I always try to buy products of poor or humane countries, if possible.
