Actually, they do, if they've got the opportunity. Generally when hockey players get into a fight during a game, it's understood to be "just business" and they leave the disagreement behind on the ice. There reaIlly is generally not any animosity at all with it. I've seen guys practically shaking hands on their way to the penalty box!

Two hockey players can be on rival teams, get into knock-down drag-out fights in a game, and still be best of friends off of the ice. Matter of fact, players from different teams generally have more respect for each other than their fans do.

For the most part, they are friends. Fighting is just another part of the game, like stick-handling and checking. Used effectively, a fight can change the momentum of a game or send a message to the opposing team that certain behavior (going after star players, taking cheap shots, messing with the goalie) are not going to be tolerated. Hockey players aren't idiots like some other sports stars; they don't go around getting arrested for recreational drugs or beating people up in night clubs or steroids or taking advantage of women, and to that end, I think letting them continue to fight on-ice is one of the few good calls Gary Bettman has ever made.

Its because fighting is part of hockey. men fight ot prove they are strong, whether its on or off the ice. What happens after the game is that they move on, they don't have time to have a drink with guys from other teams. they have practice the next day or another game. during the off season they may do that.

Fighting is a part of the game. It's what happens. Friends fight friends, brothers fight brothers. And the person who posted previously is right. It does keep the game clean. They are able to take their frustration out, which prevents them from dirty hits and such. And they are hockey players, after the game they have beer! lol.

WTF they don't fight any more the gay refs break it up before it even happens there are only like 3-5 really fights a season really hockey is kinda of a girlie sport since the refs really don't let fighting in.HELL they barley let them body check people with out like a 5 min penalty for roughing.Back in the 80-90's they took fighting to a all time high since they don't even fight now a days there is no reason for them to make up and have a soda or pop as they call it up north.

They do have a soda after the game. What happens on the ice usually stays on the ice. the guys don't really hate each other, they just get angry during the game when the other players perform illegal moves or don't get caught doing something wrong or start talking smack. It comes with the sport! Do you think boxers really hate each other too? Nah it's just the sport they choose to engage in! It's usually nothing personal though admittedly there are players who do not get along on or off the ice.

Wow. I'd love to punch you in the face then take you out for some Faygo. (Kiiidding.)

But yeah, I think everyone who said it previously is right... It's Labatt or the alcohol of choice that's going down after the game. Lol.

Enough people have explained how important fighting is to the game... Personally, I don't see where you get this "too much" idea from. Did you watch the playoffs? 'Twas not enough!

Alot of cases its merely chatting, jawing earlier the %. drops.... its the end results of smack communicate. Sammy- you're an entire fool. ought to you think of baseball gamers getting 14 stitches of their chin during the 1st inning... runnin to the dugout, getting stitched up, then comin returned out to play something of the sport?! Hockey is a hard interest, which demands a large severe point of skill and you're merely being an fool.

they do, most of the fights are just for show because the fans know" hey that guy is a fight" and theplayer knows he is expected to fight. There are fight that do get serious when players try to defend their teamates after a big hit or a cheap shot or somthing
