I heard a song on the country radio station that I loved yesterday - It sounded like Randy Travis (unless I'm confusing his voice with someone else?) It was a beautiful song and mentioned something about the rain in the chorus. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

(It might not be Randy Travis... I dunno. But it's NOT "A Better Rain" by George Strait)

It's a ballad, the guy has a deep and beautiful voice, and it's not an old classic as far as I know but it may not be brand new

So, it's definitely not "I Wish It Would Rain" (Randy Travis) or "Songs About Rain" (Gary Allen) or "LIke the Rain" (Clint Black). Now I'm wondering if was George Strait but I can't find any songs of his online that match it. I am so annoyed that I don't remember more of the lyrics. I will have to wait and see if they play it on the radio again. Bah.

I think maybe you heard "I'm No Stranger To The Rain" sung by Keith Whitley.

E
I'm no stranger to the rain
A
I'm a friend of thunder
E
Friend, is it any wonder lightning strikes me
B
I've fought with the devil
D
Got down on his level
A B
But I never gave in, so he gave up on me

2nd verse:
I'm no stranger to the rain
I can spot bad weather
And I'm good at finding shelter in a downpour
I've been sacrificed by brothers
Crucified by lovers
But through it all I withstood the pain
B E
I'm no stranger to the rain

Bridge:
A
But when I get that foggy feeling
E
When I'm feeling down
A E
If I don't keep my head up, I may drown
B
But it's hard to keep believing
D
I'll even come out even
A B
While the rain beats your hope in the ground
D B
And the night is really coming down

3rd verse:
I'm no stranger to the rain
But there'll always be tomorrow
And I'll beg, steal, or borrow a little sunshine
And I'll put this cloud behind me
That's how the man designed me
To ride the wind and dance in a hurricane
I'm no stranger to the rain
Oh no, I'm no stranger to the rain

(solo)

(repeat first three lines of 1st verse,
last five lines of 3rd verse)

Keith Anderson has a song called Everytime I hear your name, which includes the lyrics:
I feel rain
Fallin' right outta the blue sky
And it's the 5th of May
And I'm right there staring in your eyes. And nothin's changed and we're still the same.

Here are the rest of the lyrics:

I'll also include a link to many Randy Travis songs, but other than I wish it would rain I haven't seen anything that fits the bill. I'll keep looking.

"Rain Out in Georgia
Kentucky Rain
Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again
Blue Eyes Shining in the Early Morning Rain
they go on and on
no two the same"

the beginning of the chorus to "Songs About Rain", by Gary Allan

Clint Black has a song called "like the rain"

Here are the words...maybe this is it????

I never liked the rain until I walked through it with you
Every thunder cloud that came was one more I might not get through
On the darkest day there's always light and now I see it too
But I never liked the rain until I walked through it with you
I hear it falling in the night and filling up my mind
All the heaven's rivers come to light I see it all unwind
I hear it talking through the trees and on the window pane
When I hear it I just can't believe I never liked the rain

Like the rain I have fallen for you and I know just why you
Liked the rain always calling for you I'm falling for you now
Just like the rain

When the cloud is rolling over thunder striking me
It's as bright as lightning and I wonder why I couldn't see
That it's always good and when the flood is gone we still remain
Guess I've known all along I just belong here with you falling

Like the rain I have fallen for you and I know just why you
Liked the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now
Just like the rain I have fallen for you
I'm falling for you now just like the rain

And when the night falls on our better days
And we're looking to the sky
For the winds to take us high above the plains
I know that we'll find better ways to look into the eye of the storms that will be calling
Forever we'll be falling

Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now just
Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now just
Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now just
Like the rain
Like the rain
Like the rain
Like the rain
Like the rain
Like the rain

Is it something about him singing about the girl "loving the rain" and him falling for her like the rain does?

If it's not that, there's a song by Randy Travis called I Wish It Would Rain.

Well I have a couple suggestions. Could it have been Big and Rich "The 8th of November"? Or perhaps you misheard rain and it was really train then it could be Josh Turner "Long Black Train" Both He and Big and Rich have deep voices like Randy does. I really like B and R's "Lost in this Moment".

is it she's always right, by clay walker? lyrics are below...

She's perfect for a cotton dress
Pretty when her hair's a mess
A little wine and she gets a little loud
Once or twice she's bleached my jeans
She's been known to burn the beans
But in my heart there's never been a doubt

She's right as rain on a thirsty cornfield
Right on the money 'bout the way that I feel
A cool breath of fresh air
When life tries to burn me down
She's right behind me when I doubt myself
With a little push and a hand to help
A Quiet comfort on a troubled night
Right beside me, yeah, she's always right

Well she's the first to speak her mind
Never been the quittin' kind
She likes chocolate about as much as she likes me
She likes talking on the phone
Calls the mall her second home
I love that girl
Yeah, she's just right for me

She's right as rain on a thirsty cornfield
Right on the money 'bout the way that I feel
A cool breath of fresh air
When life tries to burn me down
She's right behind me when I doubt myself
With a little push and a hand to help
A Quiet comfort on a troubled night
Right beside me, yeah, she's always right

Yeah, she's right behind me when I doubt myself
With a little push and a hand to help
A Quiet comfort on a troubled night
Right beside me, yeah, she's always right
