Internet Explorer is and always has been a part or Windows and can not be uninstalled. You can download another browser like Firefox and set it as your default browser, but anytime you visit a Microsoft site or download anything from Microsoft, IE is going to open. that's just the way it is.

Depends on what version of Windows you are using, and what version of IE you are using. With Windows 2000, XP, and Vista you can not remove IE. Parts of its code are used for Windows Explorer (My Computer) and other programs. To completely remove it would cause Windows itself not to function. You can remove it from 95, 98 and ME.
The inability to remove IE is was let to the "monopoly" judgement against Microsoft a few years back. But instead of making them remove IE, the court only required them to add the "Default" panel in Add/Remove Programs where you can make a different browser your default.
If you were to unistall IE, it will reinstall whatever the default version is for the version of Windows the next time you reboot.

You can't fully uninstall it. It is a part of the Windows operating system. You can use a different browser and make it your default, but you can not completely remove it from your computer if you use Windows.

If you are running a Windows operating system, you can not uninstall it. Explorer is used for things other than Internet browsing such as "my computer."
My suggestion...get another operating system or buy a MAC!!

"buy a mac" "buy a mac"
how does this even remotely relate to this question?
you can disable the browser (not in full) in control panel > add/remove programs then click windows components and just follow the steps from there.
if you're just sick of ie, i suggest firefox as an alternative (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox) OR you can do as suggested as above and buy a $2000 over-hyped mac.
