Some English people are proud to be English. I am of an Irish decent but born in England. I am proud to be me. I must admit I would rather live in a sunny country as oppose to England. There is always good and bad point to anywhere. I love some of our English customs and ways. So, yes I am proud to be English.

You are proud to be English, you are just obstructed to show it publicly. This has all stemmed from New Labour and their hatred of our history, notably the Empire. As England is the biggest fish in the British pond, we have took the can. Also over the last ten years the majority of our leaders have all been Scots. I have nothing against our Scottish cousin, we perhaps should take a leaf out of there book

I'm proud to be English, I'm fed up with the way the country is run, the scroungers and the scum but I myself I'm proud to be English.

As for the idiot saying we have no pride, the English decent hardworking people do have pride, it's the scroungers who don't!

because we are not allowed to be - i mean it would be conisdered anti-foreigners, and so on - we are told all our lives that we should not be proud of our country by schools and the general community. waht values do we have anymore? what do we have that makes us british. we are not british (apparantly), we are a 'multi racial community' aka, saying english may exclude other people, so we are discouraged from saying it. Also, the government loves the rest of the UK too much.

monkienutz is spot on - I'm proud to be English but dare I admit it (other than at footie matches where I am surrounded by my fellow countrymen)? No I daren't. There are too many non-English groups I risk offending.

Also, we aren't allowed to celebrate St George's day with nearly as much gusto (OK, alcohol) as the other nations with their national day.
