I live in Kentucky, want out bad, and have practically decided to move to Texas. However, if that falls through, then Oklahoma would be my very next choice. Not because it's close to Texas, but because it still has thriving cities and one of the most diverse landscapes of anyplace in the world. Oklahoma is the only state I would give a second thought to over Texas!

Anyway, what's your take? Gracias!

Oklahoma is just like any other state. It has marvelous places to live and not so marvelous places. It's my take that you choose to like where you are, and if you don't, you move to a place you do like.

Take heed, however, Oklahoma is in "Tornado Alley" Maybe that is where Dorothy really was when she said, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto." LOL

Good luck to you and your move.

Depends on where you live in Ok. I lived there for years, different areas, S.W.(by the Tx. state line, close to Wichita Falls), Oklahoma City and Tulsa. I loved OKC would go back there in a heartbeat, the other two areas...no way. Take into consideration, Ok has a high state tax, Tx. has no state tax. Makes a big difference in your pay check. But I think Ok. has a lower cost of living.

Clearly, Kentucky must be hell, since your choices for ideal places to live comprise of Oklahoma or Texas! Gimme a break, don't you think that there are nicer places in the US? I can think of 48 other reasons NOT to live in Oklahoma or Texas!

Oklahoma is OK but you'll enjoy life more in Texas! Texas has the beach, mountains and the desert. I'm glad I moved down here from Chicago!

I moved to OKC from SA, TX and I loved it. It had a great night life & there was always stuff going on. In downtown they have an area called brick town that has a lot of resturants, bars and a ball park. I took a trip to tulsa & found it to be the same. I lived there for 3 years and would love to go back.

oklahoma is great. just make sure not to move to moore- they always seem to get hit by tornadoes. oklahoma is about to become 100 yrs old and there'll be tons of parades and kids even get a day out of school!! cost of living is low, right now it's unseasonably rainy- no wildfires and everything is green and not okie dirt red.. there haven't been a bunch of horrible tornadoes this year. i can remember the 1995 (Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building) bombing and how everyone pitched in to help. we felt it several miles away n my sis was in kindergarden and everyone in her class was sent stuffed animals. ppl here are kind. whenever the may 3rd tornadoes struck, ppl jumped in to help. i live in a rather large city outside okc and my dad stalled at one of the main intersections n ppl actually got out of their cars to help my dad push the car. it's not like the musical, and we are not a bunch of hicks, but we do have some rather comical facts-- our state vegetable is a watermelon and both of our major airports are named after ppl who died in a plane crash (Will Rogers and Wiley Post)

come on give Kentucky a chance (that's where i am by the way) and my uncle lived in Oklahoma and loved it...but if you want to appreciate where you are go to Iowa or Nebraska for a week and witness the vast nothingness there you'll think Kentucky is heaven (no offense to those who live in those states)

I am a true blue Okie, and I think if you move here, you will love it. The people are very friendly, and everything you stated in your question is true about Oklahoma.
