I've seen the movie for Howl's Moving Castle and it is great! Since it's based on a book, I was wondering if buying it would be worth it.

When you are dealing with an artist like Hayao Miyazaki, the movie is going to be better. A book can't reproduce what he does on screen. This is one of the rare times that I will ever say that in a book vs. movie conversation.

I love the movie I just saw it for the first time last week, saw it 4 times allready! Get the book it has a lot more characters it has a lot of things the movie didn't have and the movie had stuff added to it that wasn't in the book(that whole war thing was not even mentioned in the book no idea where that came from it was stupid)..the ending is better. Barnes and Nobles has it in the teen section.
Her sequel book was not that good. Sophie and the others don't even really get there until the 17th chapter, the first 16 is about this guy named Abdullah, a carpet seller, and I didn't like him nor his adventures. I dont' know why she just couldn't have brought Howl and Sophie in from the beginning.

Well, the movie is actually very different from the book. The author of the book, Diana Wynne Jones, didn't give any input while the movie was being made. Hayao Miyazaki based some of the plot on the book (about the first 1/3 of the film), and then went off in his own direction to include his usual themes: airships, non-human sidekicks, etc....

Overall, you should get the book, (it's really good!), but don't expect it to be exactly like the movie.
