Which countries are accepting of black Americans?
I dont want to go to one expecting a nice vacation & face open racism in every city and/or be robbed becaues they assume I'm a rich American. I know some US cities have open racism.
But I know where they are & avoid them.
I want to visit other countries to learn how people live & see different parts of this planet. I'm not the type of black woman depicted in the media or a rude, spoiled American. So, I don't want to be treated that way without being given a chance to disprove the bad stereotypes about blacks.
I've heard that some areas of the world only know about black women through the media and view them as sex objects to the extent that they will touch a black woman inappropriately if they meet one. Or are afraid a black person will shoot or rob them.
Comments that insult me or do not inform me about what I asked will be reported.
I'd prefer answers from anyone who has been to or lives in a city outside the US.Thanks!

Sweden is fine believe or not. I am of african descent and i grew up and live her.
That isnt to say there isnt racism here but i would say its on the same level as everywere else in the world. If you were to encounter racism by those type of people it would be in the distinct "swedish" form of quite prejudice met whit a beaming smile to your face and overal naive, ludacris ideas about other people that doesnt really make you feel treathen, but are more embarassing for those people than anything.
A practise of violence, attacking coloured people in the street is just foreign for Sweden.
Any ways most of this is mostly relevant to immigrants who are planning to stay in Sweden. Immigrants get judged on their competence level a lot based on there skin colour and language skills. The slightest bit of accent goes straight in to hardwired ideas about the world and about credibility, especially if you have been raised as a non-minority and used to seing yourself that way.

Most people here, especially young adult outgoing urban people, are really modern about these things. And as a bonus most people speak english very well.

Yes, African countries like South Africa and Botswana are wonderful. Just google cape town and you'll be surprised. Go on safari in Africa, you can't go wrong!

London, England is just fine. It's a very normal place, the people are more civilized than in the tiny minority-free towns of UK. I know, because I live there!! The Caribbean of course will work, and in Japan you should not be attacked/murdered just for being black (unlike Russia), but maybe they won't be very nice to you. So far, though, I've heard nothing negative from black people travelling in Japan.

I think any central american country will do. There are enough black people, that you won't seem out of place. I live in Honduras. My black friend, Tania actually blends in better, because even when they hear her crappy spanish accent, they assume she is Garifuna (local black population). She's treated with respect. I won't say people here aren't racist -- you sure don't see interracial marriages -- but the local races seem to mix very well on a superficial level, on which they would interact with you as a tourist.

South Africa.

We have some stunning places around here. You wont be affected by crime if you have a knowledgeable tour guide and just ask the areas to avoid at your local hotel. You will be surprised at how it is both first world and third world, with beautiful and diverse people and gorgeous nature depending on which areas you would like to visit and your prefencees.

Bless You!

Did you ask this before? I think so, but maybe the reader's digest version of my answer will help more:

1. Cairo, very friendly and accepting people to everyone, very safe
2. Bangkok, Thais are also very accepting and maybe the friendliest people on earth
3. Amsterdam, less tolerant than before Theo Van Dyke was murdered, but still very open. Rest of Holland is iffy
4. Paris, if you know how to handle the french (buy "culture shock! France") you'll be amazed at how friendly they are. If you don't, you wrongly claim they're rude like others who haven't bothered to understand them

I'm so sorry that you have ask this question. My lady and I were discussing this too (she's black and I'm white) and we decided to go to Jamaica. The bahamas, Barbados, and the Dominican Republic are ok to. Sadly, black people are hated just about everywhere. Someone said Canada, that may be an option as well.
Good Luck and Have fun.

I'm not American I grew up in Latin America and in Europe. Europe deals with race differently than does the US Germany, Holland, France, Spain, UK have a diverse population. You will not be bothered in Western Europe. Latin America you can go to Dominican Republic, Brasil, basically anywhere.

You have to avoid Germany at all cost, in some places they truly hate and will harm jews, blacks and gays; please stay away from some parts of Germany. Russia isn't too good either, I heard they beat a black man so bad he's paralyzed from his lower body and parts of his upper body.

Great Britain, Japan, Korea, and Canad are safe.

England. My sister is living there. she is african american as well. she likes it a lot she says the people are nice, and chances are they wont even know you are "out of place" because everyone is from somewhere different out there.
