I have to pierce a hole in a 0.5 l beer bottle. How can i do this at home?

I'm making a bong. I don't want to use plastic, so i'm using a glass beer bottle... but how can I pierce it?

Use a diamond drill bit you can buy at the hardware store. Make sure to drink the beer first and don't use power tools when you're stoned or we'll be answering your medical questions too.

You could certainly do this with a dremmel tool and a pointed grinder bit. You would need to keep the bottle still (possibly tape it to a table) and then very slowly put pressure on the bottle with the dremmel and the grinder bit turned up to the fastest speed. If you keep working the bottle in a circular fasion you will get a nice round hole. If you have problems keeping the bit from skipping off the bottle put two or three layers of masking tape down before you use the bit and it will keep it from skipping off the bottle.

there are diamond tipped glass drills available - if it is only for one hole maybe you find someone who can do it for you.
