I did a scan of my 4 and 5 star songs on my ipod. I know I'm missing a lot but this is a good list to get started--lots of styles to choose form.

a recent one is chasing cars by snow patrol

one with a long build up--not too fast: hawkmoon 269 by u2--dont really classify this as slow rock...but i like it

who wants to live forever, queen (also remake by alphaville)
forever young, alphaville
you are so beautiful, joe cocker
crash into me, dave matthews band
lead me upstairs, david gray
drift away, dobie gray
stormy monday (live), eva cassidy (more bluesy rock)
name, goo goo dolls
daughters, john mayer
all of my love, led zeppelin
turn the page, bob seger (or metallica cover--very good)
tuesday's gone, lynryd skyrnd (also metallica cover)
comfortably numb, pink floyd
every breath you take, police (not super slow--but understated)
one, u2 -- one of the best songs of all time. Also try the remake that mary j blige made with them
the weight, the band
dream on, aerosmith
while my guitar gently weeps, the beatles
behind blue eyes, the who (gets faster toward the end)
under the milky way, the church (great 80s song)
a long december, the counting crows
where are you going, dave matthews band
peaceful easy feeling, the eagles
what it's like, everlast
more than words, extreme
watching the wheels, john lennon
fade into you, mazy star
one, metallica (entirely different than the u2 song--fast at end)
black, pearl jam
in the air tonight, phil collins
i burn for you, the police
the beautiful ones, prince
a white shade of pale, procol harum
silent lucidity, queensryche
scar tissue, red hot chili peppers
closer to the heart, rush
landslide, fleetwood mac
fragile, sting
a thousand years, sting
why should I cry for you, sting
creep, stone temple pilots
all I want is you, u2
