How do i get rid of spyware?

i have tried installing different types of firewalls and they do keep these intruders out, but this GREATLY affects my computer's performance. HELP!

Firewalls are used to keep hackers out. Spyware and Adware are completely different. You need programs like Lavasoft's Ad-Aware program and Spybot-Search and Destroy. These programs when used scan your computer and delete spyware/adware.

Try Lavasoft Adaware. There is a free version which removes spyware you already have, and there is a reasonably priced add on which keeps spyware out. I have found this to be quite effective. If you have an older compuker, dont run anything else while the Adaware is doing a scan, the machine will bog down. The scan only takes a couple of minutes, though. Good hunting!

Delete them.

Now for an answer where my tongue is not firmly in cheek... You can pick-up a commercially available spyware cleaner, or one of the freewares or trial versions avaiable for download. (I'd suggest the commercial one...less adware or spyware risks) Install the program, contact the provider, and update it immediately after installing, then run it.

If your firewall is affecting performance, you need more memory, and possibly an upgraded CPU.

Consult Download.com and download a program called 'Ad Aware Personal.' It's great for removing stuff. Make sure it does the full scan on the very first scan, although I would suggest just doing it everytime you scan. If you're concerned about viruses, I would suggest AVG Anti-Virus. These are both free programs and do a ridiculously good job of cleaning junk out of your computer.

The best way of keeping the spyware out is not view those site which are not safe for your computer.

Some of the site which provide cracks, wallpapers, adult content etc. often they are the culprit for the spyware and virus in the system.
thus i would suggest not view those site if you are using the net in home or office system.
Or you can use the tools which would check for the safety of the site which u view...

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.

you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar.

firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser.

as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
