You probably have Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional. This is used usually for multiple based account such as business so that people can't see other people's account names. There should be something in the control panel about your username settings. If you are an administrator you should be able to fix it.

If you are the only one that uses that computer then do this
Start->Control Panel->User Accounts
Click on your account, and then click Remove my password
It's the only way to just click on your account name when logging in, and for computer not to ask you for your password...
If you are not the only one using that computer and still want your stuff to stay private, then you'll have to type it every time, sorry.
And again, this is if you are using XP.

If it's a mac, you have
>Go to system Preferences
>Click on "Accounts"
>Click on "Log In Options" ((( if you can't click on it you have to cick on the lock and enter an administrator's name and password)))
>Then, the first option is "automatically Log in as" and then is has a dropdown list of all of the users on your computer. Select the dropdown list and click on your username.
Restart your computer to test it out.
If it's windows, then im sorry to say that it's normal. My old windows crashes a lot, and it can't even shut down. I have to pull the cord out of the wall at a precise time while it's "shutting down" to actually shut it down.

EVERYTIME until you turn off accounts / logins or set it to SAVE the setting
PS. Computers are NOT inteligent, they ONLY do PRECISELY what their program tells them to do.
