I think it's wrong for our government to take my money and redistribute it to you or anyone else. So, in short, no, I do not think it is right.

Our country very seldom gives away money without some benefit to us. Most of the time when foreign aid goes to a country, it's because we have some interest in that country. Whether it's oil, a specific commodity, or something else like a spot for a military base, you can generally figure out a benefit.
As to "doing without," I don't know all that many people who really go without here. Certainly we need to make improvments, especially in the area of health care, and shift some priorities around, but on the whole I'd say people are doing ok.

I don't think it is right for the government to take my money and give it to other countries or other people and I have no say in where the money goes.

NO!! Its not right at all. We shouldn't be giving out any money, unless our own citizens are taken care of. We give away vast amounts of money to foreign governments and foreign aid programs. I think its time we turn off the tap.
alee522- Its the governments JOB to look out for ITS OWN citizens. Not the worlds. And open your eyes. There are plenty doing without. As a whole yes we are rich. But, look WHO has the money. I work hard for my money, and liberal scum like you have no problem giving it away to other countries. We have our own poor. I would rather be able to help them, than a guy that in 5 years will try to kill me or my family.

It is not only unconstitutional, it is unethical. The US citizens are charitable people, and many good-hearted Americans sponser overseas charities. Although, the government doing it means they're forcing the taxes out of Americans through the IRS first then giving it to the charity. Democrats especially like to do this. They act like the money is theirs.

It's cheaper to make a friend than to fight an enemy..would you rather more money be spent on defense? On an individual level and national level..how can you remain friendly with others and simultaneously watch them die of starvation? How can you think kindly of others who ignore you when you need help the most? After recovery from the crisis you will hold only hate for those who refused to help you...do we want that?
By the way...no taxation without representation! Did you vote?

The world is not as simplistic as many seem to believe. First we do not give all of our money to other countries. We give very little toward international humanitarian relief compared to other developed nations.
Second, we are in this mess in the middle east because our foreign policies ignored the needs of the middle east humanitarian and political issues.
If you check your history I offer the WWI and the treatment of Germans after the war. it was because they were so humiliated that Hitler gained power. That's why the West rebuilt Germany. Today Germany is one of our strongest allies.

Americans don't do without. We have more wealth and opportunity in this country than most people will ever see. It is not the purpose or function of a government to spoil its citizens. Stop crying and make your own way in this world.

Actually if you look at foreign aid as a percentage of GNP the US is 21st in the world in aid given.
