I don't know, but it is sad that the Republicans can't find a candidate that wasn't pro-choice before truning pro-life to appease the base.....but Democrats are the filp floppers.

I would vote against it. Its time to quit throwing money at the problem, because that obviously has done nothing to help the system. The system is broke and needs a total overhaul. I don't know what the right plan, but there are people out there smarter than me when it comes to this and it might be time to start listening to them. Thompson seems to be the kind of guy who would know what he's talking about, so I'll trust that he had good reason for voting against whatever bill this may have been. Thanks and have a nice day.

Probably because like many of us, he realizes full well that it's a waste of money!
Privatize our school systems, get rid of the unions, make parents take some responsibility, flunk kids who refuse to learn.
Quit throwing money into a system that doesn't and won't work!
I'm so pleased that you've asked this question, that I'm giving you a star. I realize that it was meant to bash Thompson, but in my eyes, that makes him even a better person and I thank you.

Perhaps because there is no Constitutional authority for Congress to be spending money on education.
You have heard of the Constitution, right?

Maybe Fred Thompson knew that most of the money would get wasted on making the tests easier to pass rather than actually teaching the children.
