Like it or not, many (nost?) states do not have antidiscrimination laws based on behavioral characteristics such as sexual orientation.

Yes, every candidate's policies and positions should be known and investigated, and then the voters get to decide.

Frankly I'm not sure whether this position will help or hurt him. I live in a jurisdiction where this discrimination is illegal.

PS I am aware that the DNC just sent a mass emailing to members and others starting an anti-Thompson push just today. It's their right, and DUTY, of course - get all the facts on the table and let people decide. (The GOP will play a similar role.) I didn't know if you had seen the DNC email or not.

Because it is the absolute right of a private business owner to hire and fire people as he sees fit; government has no Constitutional authority to interfere in this.

But, just because something is legal and within one's rights, such as not hiring someone because of their sexual orientation, it does not mean that it isn't wrong or discriminatory, or that Fred Thompson supports it.

There is a big difference between saying it is legal and Constitutional (which it is), which Fred Thompson said, and saying you agree with it, which Fred Thompson did NOT say.
