I'm not sure probably a little dramatized.
unless he is bigger than he looks on TV, which I think he is, than someone would have given him a beat down by now.

Some are much worse actually. But as a whole most are very demanding and not as abusive as Chef Ramsey.
In my own experience working in Kitchens. The worst is saved for the wait staff...they are usually the ones that get the brunt of a mean/abusive cook or Chef

Usually, the chef is trying to develop his staff, not get rid of them. A kitchen is busy and stuff goes wrong and has to be fixed. True. But the kitchen is a team and has to work as a team. No chef would intentionally create conflict or distract his people from their jobs, unless he is trying to create drama for television. Think about your own experience: when have you ever sat in a fine restaurant and heard that kind of screaming and crude remarks coming from the kitchen?

I would say it is dramatized alot. A chef has to be able to get his people to work together as a team, you can't do that if the players are always quitting!

Some Chefs are like that, but not quite as vocal about it.
