I like the following response because they accurately represent what is accepted gospel for a better world.
1. "... by example. ... you exude positive energy and it gets "passed forward". You can turn around someone's day by just a kind word or a smile, and they in turn will treat others with kindness."
As a practical matter the sophisticated materialist will just concur politely and continue his materialistic practices with sweet words and smiles. This is lying is called hypocrisy. Nothing new and it is most pernicious in fields where human betterment and salvation is the word.
2. "Do thorough research on your political candidates and only support those who intelligently vow to "do no harm."
All politicians pander just as indicated above. The politician who gets elected because he speaks truthfully does not exist today partly because the voting public is befuddled by a political environment saturated with hypocrisy.
3. "... through our monetary power. Sanctions against nations practicing torture, etc. Stop buying products from companies with unethical practices."
Neither ethics nor morals account for relativity. The consumer's bottom line is the price on the shelf. It is the job of the upstream suppliers to conjure the best profitability. This always works to corrupt any ethical rule.
Conclusion: We fail to do what is right because we don't know what is right. What is right can be determined if our perspective is correct.

We must begin with ourselves. Are you always loving? Are you peaceful? How are you when others are not looking? Think about it, if everyone practiced love & tolerance, & if everyone practiced their ideals of peace the world would be loving & peaceful. We worry about world peace when we can not get along with our next door neighbor. It always seems like we need to do something to teach the other guy peace & love, but it can only be taught by example. Love & peace are contagious, if enough pratice it, those who want war, those that are angry would find little support. Also, remember that you are not always the most imporant person in the room. Can you even picture a world where everyone put others first, or at least put others needs equal to their own. Peace & love must begin with you, how can you give away something you do not own?

Okay, maybe this sounds New Age, but by example. When you act out of love and benevolence for your fellow man, you exude positive energy and it gets "passed forward". You can turn around someone's day by just a kind word or a smile, and they in turn will treat others with kindness.
Second -- through our votes. Do thorough research on your political candidates and only support those who intelligently vow to "do no harm".
Third -- through our monetary power. Sanctions against nations practicing torture, etc. Stop buying products from companies with unethical practices. Companies may not have a corporate conscience, but they do care about the bottom line, and each individual has the power to affect it.

Ban all religions. Apart from the obvious fact that they are all delusionary systems of belief in imaginary creatures they have this annoying habit of claiming they are all the "truth".
Empower the UN to become a true world government that can administer stern and real sanctions to nations that interfere in the internal affairs of other sovereign nations, redistribute resources fairly and mediate in international disagreements. That should remove most of the danger the USA presents to world peace. Without religion being an issue, it should be a much easier task for the UN too.

Start by convincing everyone that unity, love and benevolence are our common goal. Everyone must have the same concept of what unity, love and benevolence is so that each individual knows what exactly the goal is.
Doing that may take a few hundred years so its good for a start.

Well, there would have to be no variance in intelligence. For if we are all stupid, religion will create perpetual war until one religion remains, in which there will be peace. (this is why I signed an online petition to ban muslims from controlling nuclear technology) because they are the most determined to achieve monoreligionyglobalism.
Also, if we're all smart, we wont need or tolerate religion, and we would be able to agree on government, and logical reasoning would set parameters for "law".
We wont have criminals, because advances in psychology and better norms will make it all work out.
Also, we'd have to control our population and global warming.

~ Get Rid of Religion
OR
~ Exterminate all Humans.
World Peace is a dream, nothing more. People have never been able to co-exist. We have always sought to destroy each other over religion, land, and dominance.
