I have tried to do the trial, but can't get it to work. I don't need all of the excel, powerpoint, just want to be able to compose a resume or letter.

download openoffice. It is free.

Go to http://openoffice.org and download the free Open Office program. It is able to use, edit and create doc, xls, and other Office files. You will be able to create a "word" compatible resume using it.

Go to OppenOffice.org. It is a free office suite that you can run on sever operating systems. It can read and write MS Office formats.

use a typwriter or word processor if you have one, hopefully it has spell check, because you want it to look professional.

or you can go to freedownload.com

and see if you can get a free trial there that works
