salman rushdie got muslims backs up a few years ago when he published a book about islam in which he wrote about the violence and hatred which he said was part of islamic teachings.
So in thier (defence!!!) they put a fatwa on his head (death threat from an imam) and now that he has been knighted, some high profile imams are urging muslims to become suicide bombers to protest against this title.
so in conclusion: salman deserves his knighthood for speaking the OBVIOUS truth,i say obvious because of the hate filled and violent reaction from pakistan, iran, syria, iraq, etc etc, which proves conclusively that what he said was fact, and because salman rushdie is an apostate(ex muslim) that makes him even more qualified to speak out.
i expect this post will be reported and removed by a muslim or left winger trying to censor the truth, but what the heck. truth hurts!!!

Ah yes, the mob mentality. Let them burn all the American flags, Bush effigies, the Queen's effigy, and Rushdie's effigy together if they want. I see it as a sign of impotence. Is it not obvious by now that these mobs in Pakistan need their scapegoats to blame for the poor living conditions, social, political, and economic problems in their own country?

I would love to know when these things are happening, so that I could turn up with a bunch of people and punch these tw@ts square in the face several times.
Why are they allowed to get away with it? They should be immediately extradited back to the countries they love so much, stupid pr1cks.

In the Middle Ages we in Europe used to burn people and kill them as heretics. maybe we just need to wait 500 years for Muslims to grow up. After all if you count years on the Islamic calendar it is only now the Middle Ages!

Spot on JS.
It really is just another example of their own weakness, a mob of angry nutters who think they are being controversial trying to rake up some trouble.
just ignore them and they will go away, just like they always do.
They remind me of something much closer to home, let me think, Angry mob, Burning effigy's, Righteous indignation,
Mmmmmmm can anyone guess what I am Thinking ?

To the person who compared Rushdie with Ossama vin Laden - what nonsense. Rushdie killed no one, unless it was through the boredom of reading his awful book.

what a cheek they pour into this country that my father fought for in WW2. They take and take and take benefits; housing and then have the cheek to burn effigies of the very people who look after them send the lot of them back to beautiful Pakistan. I dont know why they come here cos they hate us so much.

not surprising
the UK has lots of Pakistani ladies and gentlemen, whom, from what I can see are treated well, yet some people in Pakistan have complaints
they hate the US too
there are hateful people everywhere...people like this don't care if she is the Queen and if she personally came to Pakistan and nursed babies back to health they would still hate her
I won't protest...I am sure the Queen won't lose sleep either

Look whos talking, Mother of all occupiers!
you forget about your own barbaric past, but you dont have to go that far, look at protestants, IRA etc . The thing is that there are good and evil in every society . I can bet you guys have never read rushdies book, its not just Muhammad PBUH he wrote against but he also insulted other prophets which are much revered by christian and jewish faith. But again 1st you have to read the book.
