It truly is a contradiction.
Like the pope talking about how some were converted to Islam at the point of a sword, and to prove that they aren't the war-mongering type, they attack and riot all over the place killing people along the way.
I don't know. I think it isn't Muslims, but Islam that is influencing their actions. Why the rest of the Islamic community doesn't rail against these hijackers, is a question yet to be answered.

They have had that hit on this guy since 1989, here is the major difference, when the fatwa was placed on him then, it was major news, it was like, stop the presses stuff. Now, there are fatwas on just about anyone daring to call a spade a spade, so, THAT should be telling.
When the abnormal becomes the normal, things need to change. Personally, if someone had a fatwa on me, I would take them out first if I had the resources, which I am sure Rushdie does have. He is just a nicer human than I.
So, in summary, in the 80s, it was rare to see a public fatwa, now it is commonplace. Translation, the hatred is increasing, the war is approaching ever closer.
Sleep well kiddies.

Down the street from where I live there's a Muslim school that, I think, has a small Mosque attached to it. They have a sign out in front of the property that does a rolling message display. Sometimes it says "Islam is the religion of peace." One day, when I am not afraid to die by having my head cut off with a steak knife, I'm going to stop by and ask them about that. Because it just doesn't seem right.

Your question seems to show that peace loving Muslims are in contrast to minded with Islaam. Your question is incorrect. Islaam encourages justice interior the worldwide. This in turn facilitates there to be peace. So why interior the worldwide could peace-loving Muslims bypass away what brings peace to the worldwide (as properly the actuality that it is the genuine faith)?

When the supposed "peace loving" Muslims step up and publicly denounce the wackos in their midst that might get a better rap. I've met and had discussions with many mainstream "normal" Muslims and have asked them why there generally isn't much of a public outcry or denunciation of the radicals. While most agree that it's something that "should" happen, almost to a person the answers have been self serving and rationalizing excuses that left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Time to step up.

The fact that you attribute a statement made solely by the Iranian religious leaders to all Muslims does not help your argument the least bit. And if you feel if your own feelings about Muslims is weakening, it's mostly due to your own personal insecurities.
If you think that such crazy Christians don't call for killing others in the name of their faith, you are sadly mistaking. Remember Pat Robertson's veiled threat against Hugo Chavez? I certainly did not hear any of the moderate Christians condemning his statements.

Their idea of peace is forcibly making infidels succumb to radical Islam and if you are defiant then they kill you and your family.
I think as each day passes we are seeing that all Muslims are crazy..... where is CAIR? Where is the outrage and condemnation of these violent acts from American Muslims and other Muslim world leaders? Their silence is them condoning these actions and they are allowing radicals to hijack their religion.

"I still believe that most Muslims are OK, but every day that feeling weakens" quote unquote
Well my friend, I am afraid that your feelings will come to the reality at least and confirm that they are not OK...
And to all who say that not all Muslims are like that, then:
Why on earth we do not here them criticizing and calling for change??? All what we hear from the so called "moderate Muslims" is we are not all like that, but no actions,
