Oh my goodness! After answering about "worst movie ever" type question on Y!A, you have reminded me of another one - one that was so bad I forgot about it completely.

Yeah - I reckon the Alice Spring drama society could have don a better job than this movie.

Sorry if this offended you - but that is my opinion of that movie.

...it was one of the more sticky/sickly sweet pieces of campy candy corn put out, at that time, in 1982....and I candidly must admit that...I ENJOYED EVERY CAVITY INDUCING MINUTE OF THE FILM!!! (being a most extroverted and devoted, die-hard fan of horror films, I may lose some horror genre-supporting points from the masses, here, with this answer...so don't tell anyone, O.K.???)

...I have the VHS tape (quite worn, by now), the audio cassette (also quite worn), and I recently purchased the DVD (put out by Anchor Bay Entertainment).

Anyone who dares to put down "The Pirate Movie", obviously never saw the gawd-awful second motion picture version of "The Pirates of Penzance", released the following year ("The Pirate Movie" was similarly based on Rogers & Hammerstein's hit Broadway play); the film, starring Linda Ronstadt and Kevin Kline was sooooo unbearably ludicrous and terrible, it defied description, and was a veritable endurance trial to view. In comparison, "The Pirate Movie" was giddy pop-kitch bouncy fun!!!

The pop soundtrack bears a stream of songs, which are prime gooey bubble-gum stuffing, and most unforgettable and inescapable....."How can I live without her....when she's all I'm living for!!....."

I proudy put "The Pirate Movie" alongside other similar guilty pleasures, like "Xanadu" (1980), "Goin' Coconuts" (1978), "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band" (1978) and "Roller Boogie" (1979), all of which I most highly recommend!!!

OMG! I haven't seen it in years Honestly, I loved it... granted I was 6 or 7 yrs old. Now that I'm older (30+) I know now that it wasn't a great movie but c'mon sometimes movies are just fun and silly. I can still hear some of the songs, I've tried to rent it but have had trouble finding it. Hope you enjoy it for what it is.
