isn't reporting shutting out someone else's opinion? thereby obstructing one's ability to say what they want?
People want to preach that the media can say whatever they want, how come that same standard is not practiced here on Yahoo Answers?
just wanted to know thanks

How true. Generally it's one side, trying to silence the other.
I see your questions and answers all of the time and in no way do you not meet TOC requirements. I hope that if you're receiving violations that you're contesting them. Do not simply respond to the violations with the provided link. Nothing is ever done. Go to 'answers home' and find the correct link for reporting violations. Protest your violation there.
This will also give them clues as to who the hooligans are that are handing out violations through discrimination.

Freedom of speech does not mean the following:
1) Someone owes you a platform. Ex.: Yahoo! does not owe anyone here "a right" to use Answers as a way to share what they have to say. They can remove anyone at anytime as it is not a paid forum.
2) If you break the rules of the platform/forum/soapbox they do not owe you, even if paid, to let you use it again.
3) Reporting someone to the owner of the "soapbox" still leaves it up to the owner to decide, though many people who report aren't doing it to enforce Yahoo! rules (I don't think I've ever been reported, which is odd considering how vocal I am, or perhaps Yahoo! has never passed on such reports because I don't usually break Yahoo! rules).
4) One person's free speech does not mean others have to give up their free speech to let them speak.
5) The media can say whatever they want, as they have their own platforms.
At the same time, when I see people using sedition as their chosen form of free speech, I use my own free speech to answer them. Nice to meet a fellow patriot.
I'm a democrat, second, and a patriot, first.

a lot of people (Both on the left and right) want to be the only ones with the freedom to say what they think.
if you disagree, you are the enemy and must be silenced.
they do not want debate or intelligent argument, they want to be the only voice.
Also, what better way to "Prove" their beliefs if no one with an opposing view responds to their question (because they are all blocked from doing so)?
Now it appears that they have no opposition, no one disagrees and they can go and show others that they were "Right" because no one dared argue against them.
I wish we could move away from this childish behavior and move towards rational debate and ideas, but I am smart enough to know it is easier to change the course of a river with a spoon.

Great question....
The people to whom you will refer claim that they report because the posters are 'breaking the YA rules'. But really....I'm certain these people break the rules all the time...in different aspects of their lives. How many of them are such fine, upstanding citizens that they have appointed themselves as the policing factor in our society, reporting all who break rules and laws?
At the crux of it, I believe that the people who report are those who have altogether too much time on their hands, and they get a sense of 'power' from reporting and blocking users. This forum was designed for idea exchange...and while there are tons of folks who offend my sensibilities and their childishness is annoying...they have every bit as much right to express themselves as the next guy...

I only report those who violate the Y! Answers community guidelines. I feel it is my duty in exchange for this free service.
Freedom of speech does not include freedom to use Y! Answers to mudsling.

I agree. I got reported yesterday for saying, " must be desperate to play the Goldwater card." *LOL* Like that is the worst thing I have read on here, and just how did it break the rules?

The libs love freedom of speech as long as its THEIR speech that is being heard...they have no tolerance for a two way debate because their stance usually has no merit or truth..its all emotion with them.

They do support freedom of speech. As long as your speech is the same as theirs.
