The further a person is removed from a profit motive, the worse they will perform.

The beauty of capitalism, despite the misguided criticisms from so many, is the irrefutable fact that profit is the best motivator.

If I am working to do as much as I can for my family and for the charities I contribute to, then I am sure to provide you what you want. In a competetive environment, I must give you excellent service at the best possible price in order to do well. Everybody wins.

If I am working to hang on to my government job and the only monetary motive is to spend up to the annual budget as closely as possible, I am sure to do just enough to get by and I am sure to waste taxpayers money.

I don't know how many examples of failing government programs we need to figure out this truth. Social Security for one is falling apart and god forbid you need some service from that agency.

Nationalize healthcare? Dear God, please no. Don't buy the hype from those who want to expand their budgets. Government is not the answer to any but the most basic questions and federal government is useful only for foreign policy and defense. Let the market succeed as it always tends to.
