can babys hear at 18 weeks?

im 18 weeks and 2 days pregnant ive been listening to a cd and the baby keeps jumping around like mad and this has never happened to me before could this be because of how loud the music is?

The ear is structurally complete at 24 weeks, but studies have indicated that fetuses are capable of reactive listening at about 16 weeks. So, it is possible that your little one is hearing your music.

It's also possible that a sudden rise in blood sugar has him/her jumping around.

At around 15 to 16 weeks the baby can hear. The baby is responding to the sound of the music. Have fun!!

and by week 20,

So yep... I'd say you're right about in that area where he or she should be recognizing sounds.

yes, babies can hear but the sound is muffled.
he/she is reacting to the noise of his/her surroundings.
this will become more of an occurance as the pregnancy goes on.

yes they can hear. the first sound they hear is their mother's voice. next are sounds like music and other people's voices.
