Patriotism is like any other love, isn't it? Would you stop loving your child if he or she did something you didn't approve of?
Then why would you say that I don't love my country simply because I disapprove of some of the things my government does?

Happily: I say wonderful things about my country all the time. Not, perhaps, my GOVERNMENT, but in America, the government is not what defines the country. The people are what defines the country.

If you can be attacked in a broad way that requires no facts or logic, then the attackers don't have to deal with actual issues being raised, and go on in "bliss" as before.

It's propaganda started by the Bushies. Don't listen to those who question your patriotism because you don't like what is happening in the government. In actuality, things are FAR worse than they appear, because the media is controlled by corporations and THEY LIE. Everyone knows by now that the Bushies and their allies lie all the time. Contrary to what a lot of people think patriotism does NOT mean marching in lockstep and blindly following whatever the president says or does. That's called a dictatorship, and that is what we have in America, a virtual dictatorship, with King George.

Just consider the source, my friend. While it must be unpleasant and disappointing to be called unpatriotic for exercising your first ammendment right, realize that those who consider your words and actions as unpatriotic are blindly loyal to a corrupt administration who has exercised far more unpatriotic acts than you could ever perpetrate yourself. That would make them ridiculously hypocritical and willingly stupid, in my opinion. The government works for you...and if they are not doing your job, you have every right to call them on the carpet. My only wish is that people did this with intelligence and common sense - rather than alot of the mudslinging and childishness that frequently goes on in this forum...

Just because you disagree with some things the government has done does not make you unpatriotic. You were probably accused of being unpatriotic because of what you chose to criticize the government about.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

The idea is to stiffle dissent. It's anti-democracy, pro authoritarian oligarchy.

Because all libs seem to do is 'discuss its flaws' without ever having anything GOOD to say about America.
