well....my maths textbook doesnt tell whether it can be 0 or not. any answers?????????????

Yes, but it gives rise to a very boring arithmetic progression:
1, 1, 1, ...

arithmetic progresssions = 2,2,2,2,2,.....

diff =0

but it's a geometric progression = 2,2,2,2,2,.......

ratio = 1
